Megan's in her terrible twos, now, but she was certainly a surprise when she was born. If you missed out on the whole drama, we were originally told that she was going to be a boy, but she turned out to be quite the opposite. Follow the saga through these pages.

• Initial Press Release This is the tongue-in-cheek bun-in-the-oven announcement, straight from the tech industry wire.
• Ultrasound Announcement At the Ultrasound, Melanie told the doctor that she would get a box of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts if the baby turned out to be a girl. Too bad the doctor interpreted the ultrasound wrong—she should have gained a pound or two on this deal.
• Birth Announcement Of course, when she actually appeared, our Megan turned out to be a girl. Here's the skinny on how it all went down.
• New Baby This is a collection of pictures from Megan's first couple of days. Also included is a video (in several format) from the evening of Megan's birth.

• Phoenix Zoo This photo essay from 2003 is mostly kids and animals. Only a trained expert can tell the difference between the two.
• Dinosaur Museum This is a photo essay from 2002 chronicles a trip to the Museum of Ancient Life near Salt Lake City, Utah. Since mom and baby were in Arizona over this weekend, this is a boys-only affair.
• Halloween 2001 We (well, Melanie, mostly) made Woody and Buzz Lightyear costumes for Ian and Nathan. Check out the cute pictures.
• Vernal Trip Another trip, this one over Labor Day, 2001. Vernal, Utah, is Mecca for families with dinosaur-crazy boys.
