Special section singles out IMS' contributions to the mobility industry
Farmington, NM—April 29, 2004—Today, the June 2004 issue of Motor Trend hit the shelves, containing an extensive Special Advertising Section that covers the mobility industry, with extensive focus on IMS products.
While people with disabilities—and the people who live and work with them—are generally aware of their many options in assistive transportation, many without direct ties to the industry have little information about specialized vehicles and mobility equipment. With a circulation of more than 1 million copies per month, this Motor Trend article will go a long way toward educating the general population about both the challenges faced by people who use wheelchairs, and the many available solutions.
Below are a few highlights from the Motor Trend article:
The Sienna Rampvan, based on the popular Toyota Sienna LE platform, arguably rates an "excellent" in minivan conversion. Boasting a roomy interior, wide sliding doors, and larger overall dimensions, the Sienna fits the conversion bill in about every category. In spite of its size, however, refilling the Toyota Sienna won't be a traumatic experience at the gas pump, plus it's the only minivan in the U.S. to meet Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II standards. ...The Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans are available in a variety of packages, including Rampvan conversion from Independent Mobility Systems (IMS) of Farmington, New Mexico.... For Rampvans converted using Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan chassis, IMS offers the Rampvan Infloor and Rampvan Foldout conversions. IMS converts all standard Chrysler and Dodge models. (12A)
These sleek vans actually put their standard minivan cousins to shame in terms of an overall appearance that's light years ahead of the more stereotypical full-size fans, which in the past were required to transport those needing ramps and/or wheelchair and scooter-lift ability. (2A)
The automatic ramp system fits under the door entrance and features a smart ramp that retracts on contact with obstructions. To reduce ramp angle, the right rear suspension features a kneeling system much like that on many high-tech commercial buses.... The reduced ramp angle makes entry and exit much easier. <(2A)
IMS encourages its customers, prospective customers, and dealers to purchase the June 2004 issue of Motor Trend and pass this information along to help spread awareness of IMS' many contributions to the mobility industry.
