SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, January 8, 2001 -- Today, Sorenson Vision Inc. announced the results of an independent evaluation of three USB video conferencing products, in which Sorenson EnVision was named "the overall winner" over its two main competitors in the test: PolyCom ViaVideo and VCON ViGO.
At the request of Sorenson Vision, eTesting Labs tested and evaluated the three USB products on a variety of criteria, including installation, user interface, video and audio quality, data collaboration, reliability, and performance over the Internet via cable and DSL lines. In the end, eTesting Labs' evaluators singled out Sorenson EnVision as "the overall product of choice"-citing the product's "ease of use, effortless installation, intuitive user-interface, and performance."
Ray Brooksby, Sorenson Vision's chief operating officer, says the impetus for the tests lay both inside and outside the company. "We wanted the kind of independent, impartial feedback people expect from eTesting Labs," he said. "Before this report, we believed we had the best desktop video conferencing product on the market. Now we know we do."
eTesting Labs, formerly known as ZD Labs, has a hard-earned reputation as the undisputed leader in Internet and technology testing. According to Mark Van Name, the company's executive vice president and general manager, more and more companies are using external evaluators to prove their products' mettle. "Independent, third-party testing just makes sense in today's marketplace." he said. "The expertise of our top notch staff and our enormous investments in testing infrastructure give companies a way to get the best, most accurate and reliable test results possible."
Sorenson EnVision allows users to see, hear and collaborate with anyone, anywhere, over the public Internet. The product features an assortment of productivity tools that enable people to work together, regardless of the distance between them. Available in both USB and PCI versions, EnVision works on virtually any Windows-based computer over any type of network connection.
